Bill Drafted to Allow MFL Landowners to Receive Compensation

As a first step to revise the Managed Forest Law, a bill has been drafted which eliminates the restriction on leasing land designated as Managed Forest Land (MFL).  The bill also clearly states that owners of closed MFL can enter into a lease or other agreement in exchange for permitting persons to engage in a recreational activity on the land.

This bill will now be circulated to other legislators asking them to co-sponsor this draft legislation.  MFL landowners are strongly encouraged to contact their representatives asking them to sign on to Draft Bill LRB-15-3152_P2.

WAFO’s Leasing ban talking points being distributed to legislators provide support for this law revision.
